Pardon my excitement about my little container garden this year but I haven't didn't have the time to grow anything the couple of years I was in school and then that first year I went to work at the hospital.
I was like a little kid clapping and jumping up and down and when I checked and found tomatoes this morning. The above are cherry tomatoes so they should be coming on fast and below are my full sized tomatoes. Yay!
And then there's my rose bush. My ONE rose bush so it's very important to me. :-) It had grown scraggly so I pruned it this spring in a big way. So much that Gene was concerned I might have gone to far, and although I didn't admit it, I was worried too but look at it! We came home from Vegas and it was a bloomin' idiot! And that's only the ones that have opened. If you can see the little dots of bright rosy red, those are the buds just now opening. I am amazed by how things grow and survive even the hands of an novice gardener.
And then the final bit of trivia update from my life. This has nothing to do with gardening but more about my amazement of my own growth and where I am now with my career. I so love my job but there are moments where something will happen and I'll think "Whoa, that is WAY different from how my life was in the hotel business." For example, in the hotel business I never had to come home and strip off my clothes in the garage because I'd been splashed with blood from an ER trauma. In my wildest dreams 20 years ago, I never thought I'd be saying that about my job but as much of a mid-life job change as it was, I've never felt more blessed in my life to be doing what I'm doing.
I certainly know how much you love your job--and it's wonderful--even with the blood splashing! And your garden looks smashing. The tomatoes will be ready before July and the roses look beautiful!

Your roses are so pretty. Just think of the BLT's for Gene and the LT's for you to come, yum! I love fresh garden tomatoes.

Tomatoes! You lucky girl.
It is rather marvelous how our lives and careers change. Terrific that you've gotten to a place you enjoy!
