I know it's the new year but I'm still sort of missing Christmas so I decideed to take a little journey through Christmas hats of the past. One of the great things about any general patterns is how customizable it can be for the recipient and to keep the knitter from being bored. The first two pics are bigger versions of the Santa hat pattern in my book, Warm Hats for Wee Noggins...and the last pic is of preemie hats of the same pattern.
Even though I call it a "Santa hat" it's really simple stocking hat that's great for all winter long.
The first photo is of a hat I made as a Christmas present for a friend. I simply freehanded some colorplay patterns and change of hues in blue. I love the effecft of the the white overlaying the blue hue changes. I'm really looking forward to exploring the same concept in more colors thise year.
The photo below is easy-peasy no work pre-dyed striping yarn that provides all the color changes in itself. These hats were again, simply a bigger version of the same pattern, made for my adorable elementary school aged neighbor kiddoes, Samuel and Lauren.
The last pic is of a variety of yarns made for our NICU, different colors for different little Little personalities--something for everyone!
