Pattern to be used for gifts and charity only.
Materials:
Needles size #8 straight or size needed to make gauge
Needles size #6 straight
1.5 oz main color worsted weight yarn
1 oz cuff contrasting color worsted weight yarn
Optional: a few yards of white or other contrast worsted weight yarn for pattern

Gauge on larger needles: 18 sts x 24 rows = 4"
For 6-7” (8”) wrist
With larger needles, loosely:
CO 30(40), leaving extra long tail to sew with.
With smaller sized needles:
K2 x P2 ribbing for 2”
Change to stockinette stitch (knit one row, followed by purl the backside row) and larger needles. Change to different color if desired.
K+1 x 2, K12 (16), K+1, K12 (16), K+1 x 2 (35, 45)
Continue in stockinette stitch until piece measures 6.5 inches
Change to smaller needles and K2 x P2 ribbing for 1”. Change back to original color if desired.
BO in pattern, leaving extra long tail to sew with.
To finish: From bottom, sew up 4.5” to thumb base and tie off. From top, sew 3” to index finger base and tie off. Using either main color or contrasting color, make a single crochet stitch edging around thumb hole or leave as is.

Many people live hectic lives, and it can be difficult to find time for things they enjoy. For knitters, busy time sometimes means less time for complicated or time consuming projects. There are small projects that can be very satisfying, however, without breaking the bank or taking weeks to finish.
