David Chan, Chinese Restaurant Fan, Eats Springfield-Style Cashew Chicken

David Chan, the man who was profiled in L.A. went virule for having eaten at over 6,000 Chinese restaurants in his city,  traveled to Springfield Missouri last week as a guest of the Convention & Visitors Bureau to have a taste of the Ozarks.

He ate at Leong's on Saturday with both David Leong, creator of Springfield-style cashew chicken, and David's son, Chef Wing Yee Leong.

My Most Hated Cake EVER: Now on Cake Wrecks--Wooohooo!

 

OMG, Thank you!  I have been validated. This horrible cake, the most hated cake I ever made, is now featured on the popular web site:  Cake Wrecks as a horrible "staircase" cake.  The writer on that web site says she's never understood the popularity of staircase cakes, and let me tell you, neither have I.  I invested in those dumbass staircases for this one cake and never used them again. I'm pretty sure I threw them away after this. The cake itself, sans staircases and cowboy shit, was very pretty but I vote it "Ick" too. The bride was not very nice either. I picked up the gig as a favor to another cake decorator and the bride was cheap and rude even after I cut her a huge deal. I also had to drive 50 miles away to BFE to deliver the thing in a crappy little church basement that reeked of mustiness and had 60's paneling. Yeehaw!  Round 'em up cowboy. FYI--New Search Widget for My Blog

Hi y'all,

Several people have dropped me emails looking for certain recipes of mine that they couldn't readily find. I hear that.  Even when you find the right category you might have wade through pages and pages of posts looking for that one recipe you remember in the back of your mind.  I've installed a search widget called "Ligit". I'm now "legit on ligit".  :-)  It doesn't specifically say it but the navy blue search box is for my blog content only so if you get stuck for a dinner recipe and want to check out how I make it...please help yourself to the search bar.

Voice of America Embraces Springfield-Style Cashew Chicken

 

Due to the recent New York Times food section article about David Leong and Springfield-style Cashew Chicken, we're a hot commodity these days.  This past weekend, a reporter with Voice of America,  Suli Yi (my apologies if I have the first and surname backwards!), contacted me through the blog after reading my posts "Springfield-style Cashew Chicken"  and "Let Me Introduce Wing Yee Leong" for my reactions to cashew chicken  from the viewpoint of a writer, blogger, and local.  After a few emails, on a whim I volunteered to make my own personal take on the dish, Heart-healthy Cashew Chicken and volunteered my own Glenna's Cashew Chicken Casserole, a short cut version that's easy to prepare in advance of entertaining that also contains lots of veggies.
