Mmmm....so tasty any morning but especially for us this morning when the forecast called for a wintry mix with maybe an inch of snow but what we got was....I'm not sure but a lot more than that! Thanks to Jason and Samuel next door for clearing our walkway and driveway!
What a nice day to putter around the house and maybe sneak a few chapters of the book I'm reading!
Bananas Foster Oatmeal for the Rice Cooker or Slow Cooker/Crockpot
Recipe by Glenna Anderson Muse
Makes 4 servings
1 1/2 cups Old-fashioned Rolled Oats
3 cups 2% Milk
2 bananas, diced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp orange zest
1) Combine all ingredients into the bowl of the rice or slow cooker.
Optional for rice cooker: To prevent boil over, let oats and milk (or all ingredients) sit prior to cooking for 30-60 minutes so oats can soak up part of the milk. Or make and store in the fridge overnight prior to making.
2) Cook in the rice cooker for one cycle, or approx. 15-20 minutes. Or cook in slow cooker on high for 2-3 hours. Can also spoon into a cooking sprayed 8" x 8" oven safe casserole dish and bake for 35-40 minutes @ 350 degrees.
