Tall, juicy, refreshing, AND GOOD FOR YOU? You bet! Each tall water glass, about 12 oz, has only 45 calories and counts as a fruit serving... Yum! I don't mind drinking water during the day but the evenings are when I miss soda the most and this is a great substitution. I love diet cherry limeades so it doesn't feel like a sub at all and I like knowing that I'm NOT drinking empty calories but something that tastes like dessert while giving me needed vitamins and antioxidants.
Better-than-Sonic Homemade Diet Cherry Limeade
Recipe by Glenna Anderson Muse
Ingredients:
1/3 cup of 100% no-sugar-added fruit juice (I used Heaven Blessed Tart Cherry Juice. The main thing is to look on the label. Found in Price Cutter's produce dept in a cooler, the ingredient list on this particular juice is: Montmorency Tart Cherries...and that's it! When I say 1/3 cup I mean of the reconstituted juice in the pitcher since you mix each cup of the product with two (2) quarts of water)
1 small lime
approx. 6 oz of Diet 7up (or equivalent diet lemon lime soda)
Ice
Directions:
Fill 12 oz water glass approx 2/3 full with crushed ice. Add cherry juice. Ream lime and add juice (plus pulp if you like it, as I do). Stir and enjoy.
I love the tartness of lime and they're cheap so I tend to use a whole lime per glass but you may want to cut that in half and reduce the calories by 10.
Makes 1 serving.

It sounds wonderful.

I can't wait to try this Glenna! I am a big fan of the diet cherry limeade at Sonic, though I have to admit that I am usually enjoying this with chili-cheese tots:{ !

Awesome recipe! And if you like lemons (like me. I'm just crazy about them), I can recommend all natural lemonade (it should be stored in freezer) and regular soda (Perrier is perfect) instead of 7up. But be careful: all these juices and lemonades are super sweet and sugary, so you might want to add more water.
Cheers!)
