Andrew at Very Good Taste came up with this play along blog game, "VGT Omnivore's Hundred". You copy this whole thing including his instructions onto your blog and then link back in his comment section. This is fun--give it a whirl.
How many of these things have YOU eaten? Tell me in my comment section.
(Because a lot of the less familiar entries have been highlighted and underlined as they were linked to explanations--just click to get more info--I'll bold in black the foods I HAVE eaten, leaving the underlining denoting links, and cross off the foods I wouldn't eat.)
Here’s what I want you to do:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment here at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk linking to your results.

Drumroll please, my total is 65 things on the list I have eaten and only two I'd absolutely refuse.

I don't even know what half that stuff is!
If you've never eaten Pho(and of course if you would like to) that Vietnamese restaurant-Bamboo next to Akins has really great beef pho.
What would you refuse?

I am impressed. I'm sure I haven't eaten nearly 65 of those things.

As expected, our list is uncannily alike. And your two refusals - snake and Scotch Bonnets or snake and Black Pudding - is that BLOOD Pudding? I might have eaten some of those other things I didn't have even a clue what they were - at least by their real name. But I can't believe you've never had oxtail soup. I'll see if I can remedy that!

Sorry, now I see you have insects marked off. I'm with you - don't do bugs or slugs. Just a personal perference. And I really think I'd have to be under the influence of something to try snake. It would have to look very un-snake-like.

Rachel--Hey, there were some things I didn't know either and had to look up so don't feel bad! LOL!
I saw that restaurant just the other day! Thanks for the recommendation. That would give me something to order while I look at the rest of the menu.
My two refusals have cross marks through them: insects and ????, I thought I marked another one but I can't find it now.
Kalyn--You know, some of those are only because I'm from the south and grew up with farmers in the family, like "chittlin's" and head cheese. Only because my uncle raised hogs and my mom dressed out everything when she'd buy one from him.
Aunti Miranda--Love it about the oxtail soup. Feed me! LOL! Nope, seriously, never had it that I know of.
Yeah, even though I only marked off insects, there are some that I wouldn't necessarily gulp down great quantities although I would take a bite just to say I did.

I could only find one thing you wouldn't eat! I posted about the Omnivore's Hundred as well, but I still have a lot more eating to do.

I have only tried 48, and a lot of them I wouldn't again. My hubby is quite adventurous and talked me into trying about 10 more of my 48 and would like me to try another 20, lol we're married now so I don't need to impress him that way anymore. There are about 12+ I would never eat. Thanks for the idea of the post too. It looks like your friend was surprised how many comments he got back...

Deborah--I'd try everything, then, but the insects but I can't guarantee I'd like it. :-) Like, sure, I've had escargot but I wouldn't go out of my way to have it again. Can't wait to see your post!
Dana--Hey, half is still good. I know people who haven't eaten a fourth of what's on that list! And my husband is sort of the same in that there are many things on that list that he would just say "WHY would you eat that?" LOL!

I only had about 32 things. Maybe I'm slow food wise! ;)
