COTM: Centerpiece of the Month for April
I love that Janelle of Talk of Tomatoes started this event. It makes me think of how to present my food, not only on the plate, but how to present my dining room to my guests. It all adds in together to create an ambiance and I'd never really thought much beyond flowers bought from the grocery store or long thin tapers, usually exactly two. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those. Flowers are lovely and candles are great. I just also enjoy this little mental wandering, the tiny spike of creativity that lets me wonder each month, "Yes, but what else would look interesting?"
It's a tablescape of my biggest, chunkiest candles, all in fruit scents: plum, apple, and pear. I set them up before dinner last night and left them up for a couple of hours. Not only was it pretty, the house smelled deliciously like summer all night long. There's still a trace of warmish plum lingering in the air even this morning that starts me in the perfect good mood for my day.

I absolutely LOVE candles. They change the whole feeling of a home, don't they? Just beautiful.

My centerpiece didn't seem to make the cut this month...I think I will have to wait until the end of the month to send it. It will take me that long to come up with something fresh and exciting.
