Centerpiece of the Month: My Little Fat Chef
In my kitchen there is one wall that used to be the dining room wall before we busted out a different wall to build the sunroom. The wall that used to be the dining room is now...well...nothing but a big empty walk-thru space. So it ended up being the perfect spot to stash Gene's great Grandmother's Duncan Phyffe table that we don't use and don't want to leave uncovered or stored anywhere out of sight. It is also sort of the focal point for the decorations on that wall that now, having been photographed, look rather bare to me. If my husband wasn't in love with white walls as much as he loves me I might suggest painting it to add some color but I don't really have the energy for that fight conversation.
Here's the long shot:
Normally the table has a cloth on it and a bunch of bills or assorted household minutia but Janelle of Talk of Tomatoes has been inspiring many of us to look around ourselves with new eyes. I removed the bills, books, magazines, and one very old Hershey's kiss and three Christmas colored M&M's, and decided instead to display some fresh produce, a couple of colored glass bottles I've always liked, and my favorite little fat chef statuette that someone, I'm sorry I've forgotten who, gave me for Christmas one year.
Now I smile every time I walk by that table and I have Janelle at Talk of Tomatoes to thank for it. Check in at her blog in a few days to see all the other centerpieces decorating our homes.

LOL!! Yeah, I had that fight..uh, conversation with Bob, before we painted the living room. I love your centerpiece. It's so cute. Wait, is it OK to say cute? Much more creative than mine. Say, did you eat the M&M's?

Sher--of course! 3 month rule on candy. I'll be eating the Easter candy in August. :-)
