  • Sarah from Mom's Knitting (link)
Who organizes a yearly Oct/Nov NICU knit-a-thon on her blog to motivate us all.
  • Gene aka The Hubby
Who makes suggestions, appreciates my efforts, and who said when seeing the turkey butt hat for the first time "You are so perverse. Those poor babies don't know what they've gotten in to." But he laughed while he said it so I think it was a compliment.
  • Cindy from Rhode Island
Mine and Gene's favorite "Yankee" who sent a check for yarn that was much too generous but enormously appreciated.
  • RN's, RT's, and Docs of our NICU
All of whom support me and Aunti, and keep me inspired by their devotion to our babies.
  • Aunti Miranda
Who knits by my side and shares my perverse sense of humor.
  • Dianne of Dianne's Dishes Food Blog (link)
Who sent the bubbas that huge grand box of assorted yarns for me to knit up more hats and booties.
  • MICU Nights Team Leader
This gentleman, a fellow RT, who was the first to hand me money (and wanted to be anonymous) for yarn, won't be named by name...

August 06, 2007

You know it's going to be an interesting night...

...when you sit at shift change giving report and this announcement comes over the loud speakers: "Attention.  ANY cardiologist in the building please call..."

You know that just isn't going to be good.

But no codes... so we never heard what was going on.

In news at home, so far so good with Linda. Sort of.  We're all trying to do the best we can.  I can relate a little to a panic attack situation, definitely to the anxiety situation, but I'm really stretching (genuinely) my patience and understanding to understand an almost agoraphobic need for home and an almost obsessive compulsive need for things to be done in a certain way and for all things to remain the same when reality has so changed.  I do get it. Gene gets it. We do and we're trying to do everything we can but Linda's situation has changed for the long haul and while the emotional aspects are understandable to us, they're certainly not very convenient.

(These are my thoughts mostly from the hospital conversations.  Once home, things have been fine.  Linda's adjusting to her meds and is very sweet as a guest.)
